Celebrating Oral Health Month and our Brush-a-mania event |
|
In celebration of Oral Health Month, the Ontario Dental Association and the Don Mills Rotarians teamed up for Brush-a-mania, which also included teachers, parents and children.
Brush-a-mania is an event targeted at children aged 4 to 12, which emphasizes the importance of education and motivation of good oral health habits.
During Brush-a-mania, each participating school holds an assembly during the month of April. An ODA member (dentist) and Rotarian are invited to provide the children with an informative, interactive and entertaining session.
The presentation focuses on proper dental care and each assembly concludes with a 'Brush-Off', where all participants brush their teeth simultaneously for 3 minutes.
Dr. Queiroz is a member of the Ontario Dental Association and as a volunteer and a committed member of the community, he participated by organizing 2 Brush-a-mania assemblies at Owen Public School to accommodate over 500 participants.
" This was the first time I joined a group of ODA dentists in this successful Brush-a-mania event and I am ready to volunteer my services again next year." - says Dr. Queiroz
